DESCRIPTION:The Kickapoo Creek Festival is a celebration of the natural world and community. Since 2021\, Friends of Rocky Glen has built a coalition of co-sponsoring groups to provide educational outreach about the Kickapoo Creek watershed – the beauty of its 500 square miles and the challenges of restoring and protecting it for all who live here\, present and future.  The KCFestival offers several days of outdoor fun and education:  \n\nA variety of workshops about  plants\, bugs\, birds and native fish\nKnowledgeable\, relaxed workshops that provide both personal and community solutions for some of the tough problems within the watershed\, like soil erosion and water quality pollution.\nInstruction in basic survival skills\nFishing and canoe/kayak lessons\nLessons in night sky identification\nYoga sessions\nNative plant and food sales\nOvernight camping\nLive music\nGuided tours of the watershed’s unique geology

DESCRIPTION:The Kickapoo Creek Festival: A Gathering for Education\, Connection and Healing is hosted by The Friends of Rocky Glen and will include a full day of workshops\, hikes\, yoga and van tours of the approximately 2\,000 square-mile Kickapoo Creek Watershed\, an area encompassing nearly 50 percent of Peoria County. \nThe family-friendly event will continue into the evening with overnight tent camping\, a bonfire and a post-midnight sky tour by Sheldon Schaeffer\, retired director of the Peoria Riverfront Museum Planetarium and member of the Peoria Astronomical Society.
