Join the Friends of Rocky Glen for monthly hikes and workdays at Horseshoe Bottoms and Rocky Glen Park.
Meet at Horseshoe Bottoms in West Peoria, Illinois, 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month for a guided hike led by a member of the Friends of Rocky Glen. Following the hike, volunteers are always needed to help clear the hill prairie of invasive plants. Restoring the prairie to native plants is an important part of the the group’s work.
Horseshoe Bottoms is located at the back of St. Mary’s Cemetery. Enter the cemetery from Sterling Avenue and follow the road as far is it will go. You will see Friends of Rocky Glen hikers and volunteers.
On the first Sunday of each month, the group meets at Rocky Glen Park on Kickapoo Creek Rd. in West Peoria. We meet at 9 a.m. for a hike and then volunteers stay to help with clean-up and maintenance of the park. We always welcome more volunteers.
